Meet Tanya

I’m passionate about making every experience easier, more efficient and ultimately more enjoyable. Design isn’t just about making things pretty, but improving the user experience and achieving your business goals.

I started my career as a technical writer for software companies in San Francisco in the mid 1990s. Rather quickly, I realized that instead of explaining software, I preferred to make it easier to use. So I moved into user experience design (UX) and product management, where I could influence the product design and strategy from inception through implementation. See LinkedIn for more details.

In 2005, I moved with my family to Zürich Switzerland and started freelance work, designing and building websites with WordPress, Squarespace, and Wix.

Design Philosophy

Clear, simple, useful.
I use these standards for everything I create. If a design doesn’t meet these criteria, I continue “decluttering” until it does.

Focus.
Many projects start out unnecessarily complicated. When planning your online presence, best to focus on content that will drive business, rather than add all the bells & whistles.

It’s better to do a few things well, than many things poorly.
I review many websites that had big dreams at the beginning, but end up with many neglected corners that distract from their core value proposition. I advise my clients to start small, then gradually add useful content and features over time.

Easy to use, easy to maintain
Your website should change and adapt over time, just like your business. So it’s important that you can update the content on the website yourself and easily make changes if you want. I’m always available to assist but you shouldn’t have to call me for every little thing.

Passion Project

In 2006, I founded Swiss Family Fun (formerly Moms:Tots:Zurich), a website detailing hundreds of family-friendly hikes and activities in Switzerland. I have a large, loyal following with over 50K visitors per month. I built and maintain this website in WordPress. I research and write all articles, take the photography, film & edit videos, and manage the online communities.

I regularly collaborate with Swiss tourism boards and relevant brands as a social media influencer and travel writer.
