Venture runs Switzerland’s leading startup competition, offering up to CHF 150,000 in prizes and a professional mentoring network for their participants. Their marketing team was tasked with rebuilding their custom-built website on Wix, so they had more control over changing the content. Although they did a great job with the basics, they needed assistance with specialty Wix features and also needed a more modern look & feel for the website based on their brand style. They booked me and my graphic design partner Hayley to help with this project.
My main task was to build the Network pages, where entrepreneurs can search through Venture’s database of hundreds of industry experts to find the best support for their startup business. Using Wix’s standard widgets and coding engine “Velo” (previously named Corvid), I created a variety of pages that filter their member database based on a variety search criteria and display the results in a repeater grid. It seems like a simple feature, but unfortunately in Wix, this requires custom code to work properly.
Hayley and I worked together to created a new design for the site, incorporating new icons, graphic elements and layouts across all pages. I supported the marketing team in implementing this, so they were properly trained on the Wix features and would be able to maintain and customize the site later without me. This was truly a collaborative project, where Hayley and I were helping the Venture team help themselves. I continue to provide ongoing Wix assistance as needed.
